Rugs & runners

We have a wonderful range of fair trade floor rugs and runners. All of them have been handmade by skilled artisans in Kashmir using chain-stitch techniques that date back to the 15th century. Naturally dyed woollen threads are hand-stitched onto tough, cream cotton fabric using the best quality wool and cotton. These handcrafted rugs are a unique combination of traditional skills and western design that helps support artisans in remote areas. Not only do these home rugs look good on the floor, they also make fabulous wall hangings. Please note that these are not traditional, thick tufted rugs - wool threads have been chain-stitched onto a tough cotton, canvas material. They have a maximum thickness of 0.5cm. Please allow an extra few days for delivery and our express delivery service is not available for our rugs and runners. All of our hand-stitched rugs are machine washable on a cold wash. They should be dried flat and ironed on a cool setting. Alternatively you can get them dry cleaned.
